3-2-1-GO!

3-Earlier this month I graduated from El Camino College with my Associates Degree in Sociology! A ton of people were able to come from out of town to attend. I had a really great time visiting with everyone!

2-Pray for my former youth pastor's son Kohen, who is 1 1/2 and has suddenly gone blind for the second time in six months. The doctors are now suspecting it is an auto-immune disease that is manifesting behind his eyes.

1- Pray also for another pastor and good friend's son Hayden who is 3. He recently had a relapse of leukemia. He is going to be undergoing full body radiation this coming week, with the goal of killing all of his bone marrow and undergoing a bone marrow transplant the following week.

GO!-I am leaving for China tonight /(tomorrow morning), at 2am!!

We will have a few days of touring the sites to see in and around Beijing and then we are off to Bethel for a week. Ill be back on the evening of July 10th :)

Crafts in the Midst of a Storm

So, this semester has been T-O-U-G-H. Weird mix of classes and assignments... difficult professors.. I am so glad its almost over. I have a very very small lull in my assignments (finally) so I thought I would post some of the things I did over spring break.

1st: I stained terra cotta pots to use as decorations for my birthday party.

2nd: I finally had a chance to have a little fun with my sewing machine.

I bought a Nintendo DS to have a little fun with and in anticipation of the 13 hour flight to China coming up in a month. Curtis did the same. So, I decided to sew us some cases to keep them in.

I figured everything out on my own: the measurements, how to divide it into two pockets and how to put it all together so it worked. They have been extremely useful, and I am really happy with how they came out considering they were the first things I ever made.

3rd: I made headbands.
I made a few more than are pictured here... They were really easy to make and they look pretty nice too.

4th: I made a frame jewelery holder. I am pretty excited with this one. I realized I would never wear any jewelery because it was either lost or all tangled up. I am hoping that this cool holder will change that.

World Record Breakin'

Last night Curtis and I went to an Angels game where we got to be a part of a Gunniess World Record! We broke the record for the largest crowd wearing fleece blankets (they were snuggies ;). I know its kind of silly, but it was still a ton of fun to be a part of. Here's a few pictures (I would have taken a video but my camera kept dying!).

Also, here is a link to a short article with a video! Check it out.

This is Kohen.

Kohen is 13 months old. He is the son of Karen (my youth pastor from Jr High through High School) and her husband Barrett (both of whom I went to Africa with).

A few weeks ago Kohen suddenly went blind. The doctors eventually determined that there was an infection behind his eyes. The infection cause swelling which then caused his retinas to detach. However, after a week in the hospital and endless tests, the doctors had no idea what kind of an infection it was or how he got it. Karen and Barrett were sent home with Kohen to begin raising thier newly blind child. However, it was not over. Karen and Barrett (and people from every corner of the world) were praying to God to heal Kohen. Even when Kohen had been completely blind for an entire week, Karen and Barrett never lost faith. Miraculously, in the past few days Kohen's sight has returned. The doctors have NO idea how he recovered his sight. They are calling it a miracle. However, we as Christians know that this miracle was a product of our merciful Lord. Thank you God, for healing Kohen!

(**the photos are from about 1 month before he went blind. I had a chance to visit him while he was hospitalized and his eyes would not focus on anything. He would not even react to a hand moving an inch in front of his face. God is good!)
